In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our legacy Injectable Finished Products (IFP) facility in Clayton, NC is a 457,000 square foot aseptic "fill and finish" site that is responsible for producing innovative, injectable diabetes and obesity treatments. The Position
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, materials, and waste handling procedures & regulations. Support Line of Business and Stake Holders in managing waste processes and procedures.

Essential Functions
- Ensure compliance of waste, wastewater & storm water systems
- Collect/coordinate waste & storm water sampling monthly and biannually
- Collect, maintain & report environmental data
- Execute the waste disposal & recycling program within compliance while implementing ideas for reducing volume & costs
- Participate with the spill response & first aid teams, tabletop exercises
- SDS and Chemical Inventory Management
- Manage vendors & contracts for waste, recycling, environmental laboratory services, and emergency spill contractor
- Perform and write deviation actions
- Support Site Sustainability Initiatives
- Manage and perform compliance inspections for LOBs and waste areas
- Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
- Other accountabilities as assigned
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in & around an active construction site during project phase. Ability to lift up to 33 lbs. with assistance. Ability to work in confined spaces, near operating equipment & with hazardous materials. Ability to work hours necessary to support department needs. Ability to travel internationally. May be required to be on feet for up to 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. May require the ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protections.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science or a related field from an accredited University required
- May consider an Associates degree in environmental science or related field of study from an accredited university with a minimum of four (4) years of managing hazardous waste in a manufacturing environment required
- Minimum of three (3) years general environmental compliance preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years managing hazardous waste in a manufacturing environment required
- Basic knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations required
- Participation in Emergency Spill Response preferred
- Pharmaceutical experience is preferred
- Good communication & writing skills required
- Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations required
- Knowledge of environmental compliance required
- Hazwopper, RCRA and DOT certifications preferred
- Able to develop & manage action plans to achieve targets required
