For our HSE Engineering team in Hoofddorp, we are looking for an experienced Design HSE & Sustainability Engineer.
As Technical HSE Design & Sustainability Engineer, the purpose of this role is to apply a correct execution of the scope of activities related to technical design safety and authority engineering on assigned project(s) during the engineering/design phase. These include but not limited to preparation of overall protection (HSE) philosophy, from conceptual design to detail engineering of HSE systems such as passive and active fire protection, integration of HSE aspects in overall plant design, coordination/preparation of HSE related authority documents (e.g. Safety Case, Environmental Permit Application), facilitation of HSE reviews, execution of HSE studies and monitoring and verification of implementation of study results in the overall plant design.
This position will report to the HSE Design Lead/Manager or directly to the Project Engineering Manager as well as the HSE Design & Project Sustainability Department Manager.
Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities:
• Work on projects of broad and diverse scope for HSE activities on medium to large-scale Total Installed Cost (TIC) projects; duties may include preparation of design HSE deliverables, the preparation of the supporting HSE documents and execution of project specific HSE activities
• Apply regulatory requirements to provide guidance to project management; assist in monitoring implementation of design HSE requirements stipulated in applicable codes and HSE standards, applicable laws and regulations; and review the project design to confirm compliance with all HSE requirements
• Prepare scope of work, plan, perform and document work requiring evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of diverse and complex techniques, procedures and criteria, for example, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), coordination and execution of Safety Cases (SC) and support studies, Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), Fire Protection Specifications (FPS), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and perform analysis of regulations against diverse and complex project needs so that design will comply with regulations
• Liaise as necessary with Sales through preparation of HSE responses to broad and complex prequalification requests and HSE sections of proposals by providing technical write-ups and
estimating work efforts of staff to execute scope of work as required
• Provide input for HSE permit preparation on diverse and complex projects by maintaining
knowledge of current guidelines and regulations
• Establish and maintain communications with client representatives and project staff through
meetings, phone conferences and emails to provide for client satisfaction
• Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely
manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
• Be result oriented to the detail level while at the same time keeping an overview of all your (teams) activities; flexible and adaptable to the growing and changing environment of the projects.

• Have excellent communication skills and work with multiple interfaces within the project disciplines
• Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures and global standards
• Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies• Master degree or equivalent (e.g. Chemical Engineering)
• 10+ years of work related experience
• Fluent in English, Dutch and German would be an advantage
