Position Summary:
The basic function of the Diesel Technician is to trouble-shoot, clean, inspect, and maintain heavy and support equipment at the transfer station and material-recovery facilities in a safe and professional manner. This position is a third shift position with the hours of 6:00pm-4:00am.
Your Role:
- Troubleshooting heavy equipment.
- Welding
- Maintain and repair various types of heavy equipment, diesel motors, and hydraulic systems.
- Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace.
- Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
- Maintains reasonable, regular punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, American with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medial Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other federal, state and local standards.
- Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.
Your Skills:
- Ability to use a variety of vehicle tools such as hand tools, electric tools, pneumatic tools, jacking equipment, safety stands, electronic testing equipment.
- Ability to receive, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to read and understand parts and service manuals.
- Ability to prepare legible and understandable work order and schedule completion sheets.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Lifting moderate to heavy material is required.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Driver's License
- Supervisory experience
- ASE Certification
- Tow Motor Certification
- Air Brakes Certification
- Demonstrated mechanical skills.
- Must supply own tools.
- 2-5 years' experience in a transportation environment
