The Green Hydrogen Electrical Application Engineer plays a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for green hydrogen production facilities. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles, renewable energy integration, hydrogen production processes, and industry standards to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant plant operations.
What will you do?
Electrical System Design: Lead the design of electrical systems for green hydrogen production plants, encompassing power distribution networks (380kV, 132kV, 33kV), control systems, instrumentation, and safety mechanisms.
Component Specification and Selection: Specify and select appropriate electrical components such as transformers, switchgear, inverters, rectifiers, and electrolyzers, ensuring compatibility with the plant's requirements and performance goals.
Electrical Analysis: Conduct detailed electrical load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and power quality assessments to optimize system performance, reliability, and safety.
Electrolysis Integration: Collaborate with process engineers to integrate electrolysis processes seamlessly into the overall plant design, ensuring efficient energy utilization and hydrogen production.
Project Management: Participate in project planning, scheduling, and execution, coordinating with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders to meet project milestones and deliverables.
Technical Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, and operating procedures.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all electrical designs and installations adhere to relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations governing green hydrogen production facilities.
Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in electrical engineering, renewable energy, and hydrogen technologies to identify opportunities for optimization and innovation
Experience, Education and Other Requirement:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Degree in electrical engineering and Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on green hydrogen.
Proven expertise in the design and engineering of electrical systems for industrial plants, preferably in the renewable energy or chemical processing sectors.
Hands-on experience with electrolysis processes and the engineering of electrolysis plants is highly desirable.
Experience in electrolysis processes and engineering of electrolysis plants is a must.
Design electrical systems for green hydrogen production plants, including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
Proven expertise in 380Kv, 132kV, 33kV Substation/Underground/OHTL Primary System Design.
Specify and select electrical components such as transformers, switchgear, inverters, rectifiers and electrolyzers.
Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and power quality assessments.
In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power system analysis, and industry standards (e.g., IEC, NEC).
Familiarity with renewable energy integration, hydrogen production technologies, and safety protocols.
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools) and CAD tools.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
Experience with energy storage systems and grid integration.
Knowledge of hydrogen refueling infrastructure and safety regulations.
