Technology plays a critical role in the delivery of AGL's strategy, helping our customers decarbonise the way they live, move and work and transitioning our generation portfolio.
You’ll be joining the Digital Tech unit, part of the Customer Markets Technology organisations that manages the build and run of 300+ applications that powers our key customer outcomes.
About the role
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a portfolio of digital assets within our Customer Markets Technology including Web, Mobile (iOS & Android) Identity, and Virtual Assistant platforms.
In this role, you’ll provide technical leadership and drive the technical strategy, roadmap, and development of digital services and solutions. You’ll be a thought leadership and oversee a team of engineers and a wider technical team, working cross functionally with delivery managers and scrum teams. You’ll be a champion for maintaining asset health, actively manage risks, oversee team effort allocation, and promote a culture of continuous improvement across the program.
What you’ll do:
Technical Leadership: Drive the technical direction for mobile (iOS & Android), identity platforms, and virtual assistants, ensuring code quality and scalability.
Support delivery teams: Partner with Delivery, DevOps, and marketing teams to deliver best-in-class solutions that meet business needs on time and within budget.
People Leadership: Mentor and coach cross-functional engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and ownership of production-ready code.
Innovation: Advocate for reusability and standardisation through AGL's Design Language System while encouraging innovation across your teams.
Stakeholder relationships: Build strong relationships with business leaders and be a trusted advisor in delivering technology solutions that align with AGL’s customer journey strategy.
Technical Asset Ownership: Manage digital assets according to technical roadmaps, ensuring they meet business demands, mitigate risks, comply with AGL security and IT policies, and oversee vendor and partner relationships where necessary.
What you’ll bring to the role:
Strong engineering leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing and mentoring engineering teams.
Experience leading agile development practices and cultivating high performing teams, within a fast-paced and fast-evolving environment
Strong understanding of mobile (iOS & Android) and identity solutions, and experience with mature CI/CD environments.
Ability to communicate and influence at all levels, from developers to executive stakeholders, pitching solutions that align with business goals.
A forward-thinker who embraces new technologies and is eager to drive technical strategies that solve complex business challenges.
