Responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute a performance monitoring and analytics framework, to evaluate mid and long-term performance trends and identify actionable insights for improving production performance of utility scale wind, solar and hydro facilities.
- Review of expected energy calculations. Collaborate with key internal stakeholders (e.g. Operations Tech team, Operations, Ops Planning teams) to manage updates and changes to calculation methods ensuring alignment with internal, external and regulatory requirements (e.g. GADs).
- Analyze and prioritize optimization opportunities ensuring practicality of the opportunity and balancing effort with value.
- Liaise with operations staff and equipment suppliers to communicate analysis findings on a routine basis and support troubleshooting and remediation efforts.
- Follow through with project development and execution on optimization opportunities, and follow-up tracking of improvements.
- Working effectively within cross disciplinary teams to ensure project requirements are met.
Other responsibilities may include:
- Assist in technical due diligence for acquisition opportunities.
- Assist with management of wind and solar resource measurement equipment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Post-secondary undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, computer or data science.
- Strong technical understanding of wind turbine technology, wind flow modeling techniques, wind and solar array design optimization and energy modeling.
- Advanced use of wind and solar modeling software such as WindPRO and PVsyst considered an asset.
- Experience with SCADA data manipulation and analytics, and historian softwares (e.g. Bazefield or SCADA International)
- Proven ability to influence moving opportunities from idea to conceptual to implemented stages.
- Strong working knowledge of various programming languages (Python, SQL) to support development of data analytics tools.
- Proven ability to move opportunities from idea to conceptual to implementation stages.
- Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, and proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple workstreams.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Power Point, Power BI, Outlook).
Experience
- Minimum 5 years working in a performance analytics role in the renewables industry.
- Experience developing scalable performance analytics tools is required.
- Experience working with operations teams.
- Previous experience working in the development of renewables projects is an asset.
Job Requirements
- Ability to travel within Canada and the United States
- Valid driver's license
- Flexibility to work in various settings including officer environments, remote project development sites, operating facilities, and outdoors (with exposure to various weather conditions)
