They are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Project Development to lead solar project development efforts in wheeling and contribute to the mission of creating a greener future.
Skills & Experience:
Take the lead in planning and developing large-scale solar power projects focused on energy wheeling. This includes finding the perfect sites, securing land, getting necessary permits, connecting to the grid, and locking in financing
Oversee a team of project developers and coordinators to make sure every solar project runs smoothly, stays on schedule, and hits budget targets—all while aligning with company goals
Work closely with engineering, finance, legal, and regulatory teams to evaluate how feasible projects are, manage risks, and fine-tune both design and financing strategies to ensure optimal outcomes
Establish strong partnerships with landowners, government agencies, utilities, and other players to secure land leases, permits, and interconnection deals, ensuring the projects move forward smoothly
Lead contract negotiations for power purchase agreements (PPAs) and off-take agreements with utilities, corporate buyers, and other stakeholders to ensure steady revenue streams for wheeling solar projects
Keep up with the latest trends, policies, and regulations in renewable energy and wheeling, offering strategic insights that shape smart project development decisions
Oversee the submission of project proposals, applications, and reports to regulatory bodies, utilities, and other entities, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations every step of the way
Drive efforts to continually improve the development process, cutting costs, and speeding up delivery times, ensuring each project runs more efficiently than the last
Qualification:
Degree in engineering,environmental science or related field
Preferred Masters in Renewable Energy or Project Management
Minimum 3+ years in utility scale solar project development, with demonstrated track record of leading and delivering in wheeling sector
Wheeling regulations, policies, and market dynamics – in depth knowledge
Only South African Residents or individuals with a relevant South African work permit will be considered.
