Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)
Environmental Project Managers at Calpine are responsible for the implementation of complex environmental developmental projects. This position is responsible for environmental permitting and program management related to development projects, including carbon capture, battery storage and others.
Responsibility includes but is not limited to: management of air and water permitting activities for developmental projects, including regulatory analysis, emission evaluation, and air dispersion modeling; activities related to compliance with the federal NEPA process; advising Operations, Engineering, Origination, Legal, and other Calpine stakeholders on environmental requirements; evaluation of developmental activities as they pertain to ongoing power plant operations; advising corporate outreach personnel on Environmental Justice and public participation requirements; review of wetland, species, and other site evaluation reports; managing broadly programmatic requirements pertaining to development projects and other relevant plant actions; and other activities as necessary to authorize development of projects. Travel up to 25%. Location may change to another office/plant depending on candidate selected.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and environmental data collection and evaluation.
- Has ability to interpret environmental regulations and permit conditions, and work with agencies to complete permitting actions that allow for needed operational flexibility.
- Possesses capability to resolve complex issues and function as an advanced contributor.
- Identifies opportunities to develop new processes, tools, services and techniques while driving continuous improvement in systems, programs, and training.
- Serves as central resource for various programs; ensures consistency in corporate practices and approach.
- Tracks and communicates regulatory changes; ensures compliance with applicable regulations, permits, and plant operational requirements, as they pertain to development projects.
- Partners with other functional roles (Plants, Gov/Reg, Legal, Engineering, Origination) to drive a systematic approach to environmental compliance.
- Interprets and apply regulations, codes, bylaws, and all relevant standards.
- Performs other duties assigned by management that generally fall within the expected scope of this position.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or similar field of study; or equivalent experience.
- Masters preferred.
- 10 years of relevant experience.
- Substantial knowledge of environment permitting and reporting.
Salary Information
- Salary range- $132,890 to $169,435
