The Opportunity...
The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Controller. The position would be based out of the Oakland CA office in a hybrid basis. The Accounting Manager contributes and supports GRID’s mission by achieving, between others, the following:
Controller is supported by the Accounting Manager in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for a multi-entity, multi-location enterprise, following US GAAP guidelines. Financials reporting includes statement of financial position, statement of activities, statement of cash flows, statement of functional expenses, and other supporting schedules.
- Assists the Controller with the preparation of the company audited financials in a timely and accurate manner including working with PBCs and supporting documentation.
- Reviews and prepare supporting schedules for the financials.
- Directs and supervises the functions of AP, AR, bank reconciliations, job cost, and program cost, accrual entries, and adjusting entries.
- Ensures the reconciliation of statement of financial position accounts with supporting schedules.
- Prepares the consolidation elimination entries and reconciliations of consolidated financials.
- Assists the Controller and the CFO with the preparation of the annual budgets and financial forecast including the 13-week cash flow forecasts.
- Documents business processes and accounting policies (SOPs), as necessary, under the direction of the Controller and CFO to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Seek continuous process and systems improvements.
- Trains and develops the assigned accounting personnel team.
- Other tasks as assigned.
What you need to bring to this role...:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience as Accounting Manager or equivalent.
- Working experience with ERP accounting systems is required, Sage Intacct is a plus.
- Experience working with national/large audit firms.
- Knowledge of multi-entity and consolidation accounting.
- Experience leading and training assigned accounting team members.
- Excellent MS Office Excel skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
It would be great if you also had...
- Experience with either non-profit, renewable energy, or construction industry.
- CPA and/or CMA is a plus.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within regularly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Ability to work independently and within a team group environment.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
