What You Do
Provide environmental leadership for both plant wide and specific production areas through floor activities, team member involvement, regulatory knowledge, and proactive activity to improve the environmental culture and regulatory compliance. Implement programs and projects to foster continuous improvement and sustainability.
What You Do
- Work closely with advisors from Mazda and Toyota
- Consistently communicate environmental conditions to management and the executive team
- Understand and ensure implementation of Local, State and Federal environmental regulations for plant compliance items including testing, periodic reporting, permitting, internal environmental plant standards, etc.
- Support facility compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations including but not limited to Title V Air Quality, NPDES, SID, Hazardous Materials Management and Chemical Inventory.
- Manage audit schedule for regulated wastes
- Interpret new regulations, determine their applicability to organization procedures and standards, and devise strategies and procedures for compliance
- Lead the evaluation of potential projects and make recommendations to upper management
- Identify projects and initiatives to develop positive community relationships such as National Public Lands Day, River Sweep, etc.
- Lead biodiversity project creation, implementation and maintenance
- Ensure appropriate tracking and evaluation of environmental compliance assurance activities and information through ERA system
- Manage and track ERA system utilization for all media
- Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to facilitate successful and environmentally compliant completion of multiple projects within project-specific conditions and schedule constraints
- Conduct environmental audits of property and assigned departments to ensure compliance
- Anticipate and recognize hazards, evaluate exposures and offer control methods to protect employees from environmental risks
- Work with production members in obtaining their support in developing shop level systems and inputting environmental data to show compliance to legal and MTM policy requirements
- Develop KPI Tracking for daily, weekly and monthly reports
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the department
- Be available to work outside of normal work schedule, including but not limited to weekends, holidays, shutdowns, and travel as needed (domestically and internationally)
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED
- Capability to develop, lead and prioritize work, meet milestones, gain consensus, and report out status of projects
- Analytical thinking, with the ability to identify gaps, root cause analysis and countermeasure implementation
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products
What Will Set You Apart
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field and equivalent work experience
- 1-3 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, preferably in the automotive industry
- Working knowledge and application of RCRA regulatory requirements
- Field reconnaissance for populating and updating new and existing SPCC plans
