Job Summary:
As an Associate within the Climate, Environmental & Social Risk Implementation team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with subject matter experts from the Climate Risk and Environmental & Social Risk teams. You will be instrumental in translating requirements into practical solutions and enhancing the existing firmwide risk frameworks, policies, and standards management. This role offers unique growth opportunities in a rapidly evolving area of financial risk management.
The Climate, Environmental & Social Risk Implementation function is tasked with integrating the Firm’s approach to managing these risks and overseeing plans to address associated regional regulatory requirements. . The role requires ability to navigate the Firm’s Risk Management and Compliance organization, being familiar with the businesses and products offered globally by JPMorgan Chase. In doing so, the individuals should be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in their interaction with key stakeholders within the Firm and evidence this through their experience in driving initiatives within Risk Management.
Job Responsibilities
- Guide the implementation of the Firm’s climate risk management framework, within the APAC or EMEA/LATAM regions
- Function as first-point of contact for the Climate Risk and Environmental & Social Risk teams regarding regulatory demands across the legal entities
- Ensure that the interpretation of regulatory expectations, use of climate data and scenarios, and documentation created is consistent with Firmwide practices, as applicable
- Represent the Climate, Environmental & Social Risk teams internally and externally in regulatory engagements
- Guide internal risk functions and LOBs in adapting internal policies to climate, environmental & social risk considerations
- Develop an external network, including through industry initiatives, to stay informed of the latest climate, environmental & social risk regulatory developments in the region
- Provide education to internal stakeholders and legal entity structures
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Environmental Science, Sustainability, Law, Government, Economics, or International Relations.
- Knowledge of risk management practices, systems and processes
- Total experience of 6 plus years including:
- Experience in Credit or Market Risk Management
- Experience driving regulatory compliance and governance initiatives within a global institution, focused on ESG related themes
- Working knowledge of Climate Risk Management in Financial Institutions
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Master’s degree preferred in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Law, Government, Economics, or International Relations
- Robust understanding of how a bank functions, including its key decision-making processes
- Strong leadership abilities and experience delivering high-impact projects across multiple teams
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical solutions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Familiarity with the regulatory landscape; knowledge and understanding of international regulations and standards; preferably those related to climate, environmental & social risks
- Ability to convey information clearly, accurately and succinctly and draft high-impact presentations and documentation
