Position at Hood Distribution
Hood Distribution is looking for an Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager for its 24-specialty wood product distribution branches located in New England, Carolina’s, Tennessee, Indiana, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona. This position is responsible for developing, evaluating, and overseeing environmental and safety programs. This position will report to the Vice President of Distribution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist, plan, and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Maintains environmental and safety files and records including audits.
- Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Developing, evaluating, and upgrading of safety programs
- Enhance and continually improve the culture of safety and compliance.
- Conduct job hazard analysis as needed.
- Interact with Insurance company on workers compensation and general liability.
- Conduct incident investigations, ensuring proper follow-up, training, and documentation.
- Plans training for employees in worksite safety practices.
- Enforce safety programs by conducting branch visits.
- Oversee Contractor Management program (ISN)
- Knowledge of lumber milling & Re-manufacturing is a plus (to include bag house dust collection systems, Planers, Rip Saws, Trim saws, Moulders, etc.)!
- Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) rules and regulations & FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association) is preferred (as we own & operate our own fleet of trucks that are operated by company employed drivers)!
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or three to five years minimum related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must have an acceptable current driver’s license.
- Ability to interpret and explain CDC and OSHA guidelines/regulations.
- Must be able to travel overnight at least 50-75% of the time.
