A typical day in the life at WSP for the Environmental Project Manager
- Be part of a Canadian-based firm, applying and expanding your technical, client delivery and project delivery skills.
- As a part of our team, we each bring our lived experiences in hand, where we have the power to design a place where people, friends, families and neighbours can thrive.
- Maintain a work-life balance, logging in remotely or attending the office in a hybrid work solution of 3 days a week in the office.
- Clearly identify and help the project team understand project objectives, bringing your ideas and solutions to project directors, mentors and reviewing and adjusting well understood specific work instructions and health and safety plans.
- Develop your career by having several different mentors to plan, adjust and grow your career at WSP.
- Be a mentor to new, talented and enthusiastic people to the environmental industry within WSP, sharing your experiences and knowledge, developing the next generation of consultants.
- Guided by our Zero Harm policy and rigorous Health, Safety and Environment standards, with your knowledge and experience, reviewing and enhancing project health and safety plans.
- Participate and be a member of a 10-20 person client-specific delivery team, while at the same time leveraging the experience and expertise of the entire RPM group.
- Have a really complex technical issue? Engage with a Practice Area Network (PAN) who may have experienced the same issue in Australia, Malaysia, or even exotic locations like Saskatoon.
- Lead some of the most interesting and technically challenging environmental projects in Western and Northern Canada

Qualities and Qualifications
You’re the type of person who has one or more of these qualities:
- Stops and takes time out of your busy day to help coworkers, especially new team members, understand assignments and help mentor them in their career path
- A passion for training new staff in the office and the field all the tips and tricks you’ve picked up over your career
- Have excellent communication skills and somehow find yourself the default person coordinating activities with your friends and family
- Miss going to the field and getting to see what’s really going on in the ground
- Likes to rub soil on their teeth to texture it (but doesn’t because it might be contaminated)
- Can’t get enough learning
You’ve got the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Environmental Sciences
- Have a professional engineering or professional science designation
- 10+ years' experience in the environmental industry
- Asset to have health and safety training related to the oil and gas industry
