Position OverviewValue Driven Solutions (VDS) is seeking a highly skilled Battery Modeling and Algorithm Engineer to develop cutting-edge solutions in battery modeling and optimization. This role will focus on creating advanced mathematical models for battery systems, leveraging physics-aware machine learning algorithms, and implementing computationally efficient optimization techniques. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deploy these models into production environments, driving improvements in battery performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and refine mathematical models of linear and nonlinear dynamical systems, with a focus on distributed parameter systems for rechargeable lithium batteries.
- Create physics-aware machine learning models to optimize battery performance, ensuring the models are computationally efficient for mass production.
- Lead efforts in the deployment of hybrid machine learning models in commercial products, ensuring scalability and effectiveness in real-world applications.
- Apply machine learning-based optimization techniques, such as genetic algorithms and gradient-based ML algorithms, to enhance battery performance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate battery models with hardware, test equipment, and international standards.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in battery production processes and ensure modeling approaches align with industry best practices.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative environment focused on innovation and high-quality results.
Preferred Qualifications- Ph.D. in Engineering, Materials Science, or a relevant domain with 5+ years of industry experience.
- Strong proficiency in Matlab, Python, and COMSOL for advanced modeling and algorithm development.
- Extensive experience in modeling linear and nonlinear systems, including distributed parameter systems.
- Proven expertise in deploying physics-based hybrid machine learning models for battery products.
- Experience with machine learning optimization techniques, such as genetic algorithms and gradient-based ML algorithms.
- Familiarity with test equipment, international standards, and certified agency requirements applicable to rechargeable lithium battery products.
- Deep understanding of lithium-ion battery production processes and state-of-the-art technologies.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a proven track record of managing high-performing engineers.
