Position OverviewValue Driven Solutions (VDS) is seeking an experienced Senior Battery Scientist to lead innovative research and development efforts in the field of next-generation high-energy lithium-metal and anode-free batteries. In this role, you will spearhead advanced strategies aimed at improving battery performance, safety, and longevity. You will work closely with VDS leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive key projects forward. This contract position offers the flexibility of remote work and nationwide collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Advanced Battery Development: Lead the development of high-energy lithium-metal and anode-free battery technologies, focusing on improving electrolyte additives, coatings, and strategies to prevent Li-dendrite growth.
- Project Leadership: Serve as a Project Manager/Principal Investigator, guiding a team of junior researchers and engineers to achieve project goals.
- Research & Experimentation: Design and execute experiments to advance battery technology, improving cycle life, safety, and overall performance.
- Customer Engagement: Engage with clients to understand their requirements for next-generation battery solutions and provide technical expertise to meet their needs.
- Documentation & Reporting: Communicate research findings, technical challenges, and progress through detailed reports and presentations to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Grant Writing & Funding: Contribute to or lead grant applications to secure funding for ongoing and future battery R&D initiatives.
Qualifications- Education: Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in battery R&D, preferably in a U.S. national laboratory or industrial setting, with a strong focus on lithium-ion and lithium-metal battery technologies.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of battery materials, performance optimization, and production methods, with specific expertise in high-energy batteries.
- Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, an analytical mindset, and experience in designing experiments that influence critical decisions.
- Leadership & Project Management: Experience leading R&D projects and managing teams in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Grant Writing: Prior experience in writing and securing grants for technical projects is a plus.
