The Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division is seeking a postdoctoral candidate who, under the guidance of a supervisor, will conduct research in electrochemical energy storage systems to support the battery performance and cost modeling (BatPaC) group.
The primary project will involve electrochemical design and manufacturing modeling to support the development of tools used for techno-economic analyses of electrochemical energy storage technologies.
The candidate will establish relationships between the physical design, electrochemical performance, and manufacturing cost of these technologies built and installed at scale.
In this role, the candidate will plan and conduct research on the techno-economics of energy storage devices, with emphasis on electrochemical options such as redox flow and lithium-ion batteries, using Matlab, Excel, Python and other tools.
Knowledge of multiscale modeling and design of electrochemical systems will be of value to support the generation of engineering design tools.
Knowledge of chemical processes and understanding of process scale-up will be valuable to support cost estimation efforts within the group.
The candidate will generate results; analyze data; prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed publications; present papers at scientific meetings; and prepare reports, presentations, and papers for group meetings or meeting sponsor reporting requirements.
