Role SummaryThe Rivian Protection, Security Specialist will be responsible for the safety and security of Rivian’s Executives. Rivian’s protection program provides tailored, high-quality protection solutions for our Executives, ensuring productivity and a safe environment to conduct business. You will work within a team that provides a comprehensive, proactive approach to safeguarding Executives, and property from all forms of security and safety hazards.
Candidates should be able to thrive in an environment with shifting priorities, projects, and expectations in an evolving security program. The ideal candidate will have experience in Executive Protection, security, or law enforcement, and possess a strong understanding of risk assessments, protective measures, and emergency response. Candidate must be within commuting distance to our Palo Alto office locations.
Responsibilities- Conduct threat assessments and risk analysis to identify potential security threats
- Develop and implement security protocols to minimize risk and ensure the safety of principals, their families, and their properties
- Provide close protection services to principals, including accompanying them on trips and providing security during public appearances
- Provide physical security coverage in a courteous and professional manner
- Provide physical security presence to de-escalate and mitigate threats against property and personnel
- Perform security advances and route planning as required
- Provides safe, comfortable, and efficient transportation for Rivian Executives and designated guests
- Maintain clear and open communication with the principals to ensure their security needs are met and they feel comfortable and secure at all times
- Always ensure the highest level of privacy and confidentiality
- Global travel based upon operational needs
- Provide support to Rivian employees and executives during events
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions for security risks and vulnerabilities
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies, including medical emergencies, natural disasters, and security breaches
- Provide training and education to the principals and household staff on security measures and emergency response procedures
- Collaborate with other security personnel, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of the client
- Run background checks on potential household staff and vendors
- Maintain the ability to adapt and thrive in an exceptionally flexible security environment
- Establish contact with employees or visitors while performing security measures, such as checking in guests using the visitor management system or connecting guests with Rivian host
- Partner with various facility stakeholders to resolve security incidents and improve the security posture of the site
- Complete detail-oriented security reports as requested/required
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners on crisis response and management, emergency coordination, and business information and intelligence
- Assist management in developing and maintaining policy and procedures for associated security programs.
- Identify and respond to emergency situations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in use and proper maintenance of all equipment (i.e., vehicles, medical supplies, communications devices, etc.)
- Answer security-related inquiries and intake reports of security/safety issues in a calm, reassuring, and professional manner.
- Supplement other aspects of the Security Program as directed by management.
Qualifications- Integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- 5+ years of security, law enforcement, or military experience
- Minimum 3 years in protective security assignment required
- Completion of protective security and technical driving course preferred
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification required with higher level medical training preferred (EMT, First Responder, 18D, Paramedic, Navy Corpsman)
- Must be physically fit and maintain a clean and professional appearance
- Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation
- Must possess a current U.S. passport
- Global Entry or ability to obtain prior to starting role
- International experience preferred
- Formal training in de- escalation techniques preferred
- Experience with intelligence analysis related to Executive Protection operations desired (Military, law enforcement, or commercial; ScopeNow/LifeRaft)
- Experience operating various technical security systems including access control, video management, life-safety, phone, radio, dispatch, and mass-notification systems to detect and facilitate the response to potential security/safety issues preferred
- A high degree of organization, prioritization, and awareness with the ability to multitask efficiently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build a strong relationship of trust and confidence with the principal
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision
- A positive attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, Outlook)
- Ability to solve problems in stressful or unfamiliar situations
- Ability to interact with staff of all levels, in a high pressure and fast paced environment
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays to include the ability to travel
Pay DisclosureSalary Range for Palo Alto, CA based applicants: $94,000 - $118,000 annually (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
