Responsibilities
- Join a cross functional team with the mission of developing a new light electric vehicle product line.
- Lead activities to define electrical hardware and software enabled customer experience features and requirements.
- Progress product requirements to methodically documented subsystem technical requirements, system block diagrams, and software functions.
- Develop and maintain the IoT system roadmap incorporating new technologies in wireless connectivity including but not limited to BLE, UWB, LTE-M, WiFi.
- Manage the design and development of embedded systems, wireless communication protocols and security.
- Drive the technical decisions including hardware chipset selection, software tools and development processes.
- Managing the IoT module development timeline with the stakeholders to ensure delivery of high quality and scalable system in expected timeframe.
- Designing the electrical hardware including component selection, schematic capture and layout including stackup optimization, with focus on high volume manufacturing.
- Work closely with internal supply chain team and PCBA suppliers and CMs on taking the complex hardware from prototyping phase to production, PCBA functional testing, module level testing and regulatory compliance testing.
- Document and maintain requirements and validation status in requirements database tool.
- Develop detailed test and validation plans and provide a technical support in their execution.
- Collaborate with software engineering to construct and maintain high level software functional descriptions and state diagrams.
- Be the point of contact between own team and other systems (such as System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software, Controls…) within Rivian to achieve collaboration and efficiencies across the company.
Qualifications
- 8+ year track record of electrical engineering accomplishments, curiosity, continual learning and “system level” thinking.
- Excellent collaboration, communication and influencing skills – this is a highly collaborative role.
- Experience working in small to medium size organizations that provided exposure to a broad set of challenges across both EE hardware and software domains.
- Extensive experience designing HDI PCBA design, hardware bring-up and various characterizations.
- Broad knowledge base of common analog and digital EE systems, low cost MCU platforms, sensors, signal conditioning and embedded software.
- Hands on experience with wireless connectivity protocols, BLE, LTE, UWB, WiFi...
- Proficiency with common protocols and their hw implementation (SPI, CAN, I2C, SENT, LIN, USB…).
- Experience with MFi certification process and workflow is highly desirable.
- Comfortable working in common EE lab environment, using low voltage <1kW power supplies and Li-Ion batteries.
- Basic understanding of thermal management on PCBA level.
- Experience with control algorithm, embedded software and general software architecture design and development process.
- Knowledge of EMI, EMC, electrical safety and regulatory requirements for products in this class (e.g. CE, FCC).
- Accomplishments in taking new products through mass production launch.
- Formal electrical engineering education, B.S. minimum, higher preferred.
