Summary
This position is a Maintenance Worker, WG- 4749-6 working in Basom New York for the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge. This is a Temporary Not to Exceed 1039 hours position.
Major Duties
This is a temporary appointment intended for seasonal work that is less than 6 months or 1040 hours from the date of appointment/service year. It is expected this position will be terminated upon completion of the seasons work. The agency may non-competitively rehire an eligible temporary seasonal worker in subsequent years who works less than 6 months or 1040 hours in their service year. As a Maintenance Worker (Seasonal) your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Assist with repairs that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, replacing, packing, and sealing defective parts of utility, supply, and disposal systems such as dirty traps, sections of broken pipe, faucets and leaky drains. Uses and maintains tools and equipment, records inventory and maintenance, and reports/documents equipment damage or loss. Operates farm-type tractors and towed or attached equipment to maintain grounds, dikes, canals, levees, marshes, fire maintenance/prevention, and road medians or perform farming functions. Repairs by replacing, adjusting, or cleaning defective limited external combustion parts or components. Work includes developing a course of action to complete facility and land management operations and earth moving projects to prevent injury to others and damage to the equipment.
