About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Project Head to lead end-to-end execution of
ground-mounted solar power projects (utility-scale/large commercial). The ideal
candidate will have a strong background in solar EPC project management, from site
handover through commissioning, and will be responsible for on-time, on-budget, and
quality-compliant delivery of multiple ground mount solar sites simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
Lead planning, scheduling, and execution of ground mount solar EPC projects
(MW-scale) from site mobilization to commissioning and handover.
Prepare and monitor detailed project execution plans (Gantt charts/MS Project)
covering civil, mechanical (module mounting structures), electrical (DC & AC
side), and BOS works.
Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards across all
active sites.
Coordinate land development, soil testing, topographical survey, and site
readiness activities prior to construction.
Site & Vendor Management
Manage multiple site teams (site engineers, supervisors, contractors) across
geographies; travel extensively to sites for reviews, audits, and issue resolution.
Oversee civil works (foundation/piling), MMS (module mounting structure)
erection, module installation, and electrical works (cabling, inverters,
transformers, switchyard, evacuation).
Manage relationships with EPC contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors for
structures, modules, inverters, cables, and BOS items.
Negotiate and finalize contracts/work orders with local contractors and labor
agencies at site level.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure strict implementation of EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) protocols at all sites.
Ensure compliance with statutory approvals (CEIG, DISCOM/state nodal agency
approvals, forest/land clearances where applicable).
Conduct quality audits and ensure adherence to IS/IEC standards for civil,
structural, and electrical works.
Stakeholder & Client Coordination
Act as primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and third-party inspection
agencies during execution.
Coordinate with DISCOMs/STUs for evacuation approvals, metering, and grid
synchronization.
Manage interface with internal departments — Procurement,
Design/Engineering, Finance, and QA/QC.
Team Leadership & Reporting
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of site engineers, project managers, and site
supervisors.
Prepare and present periodic progress reports (weekly/monthly) to management
including physical progress, cost tracking, risk register, and manpower
deployment.
Identify project risks (land, weather, logistics, contractor performance) and
implement mitigation plans proactively.
Cost & Resource Management
Monitor project budgets, control costs, and minimize deviations from approved
BOQ/BOM.
Plan and forecast manpower, machinery, and material requirements at each site.
Coordinate with procurement for timely delivery of modules, structures, cables,
inverters, and other BOS material to sites.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong technical knowledge of ground mount solar EPC — civil/structural
(piling, MMS), electrical (DC/AC, SCADA, transformers, switchyards), and
evacuation infrastructure.
Proven track record of having independently executed/handled multiple utility-
scale ground mount projects (10 MW+).
Strong contractor and vendor negotiation skills.
Proficiency in MS Project/Primavera, MS Excel, and project reporting tools.
Working knowledge of statutory/regulatory approval processes (DISCOM, CEIG,
land conversion, etc.).
Strong leadership, team management, and cross-functional coordination skills.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively (50-70% travel) to project sites across
states.
Excellent communication skills — verbal and written — for client and
management reporting.
