The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets is seeking a temporary Agricultural Conservation Mapping Tech in the Water Quality Division to support tracking and accounting of agricultural field conservation practices.
The Agricultural Conservation Mapping Tech will follow established methods and routine procedures to perform tasks with a high level of attention to detail. Tasks completed by this position will include:
- File and track agricultural field practice implementation records submitted by farmers and partners.
- Review records for completeness and accuracy.
- Reach out to farmers and partners to request further information or records.
- Map field practice implementation data in the Partner Database, a user-friendly geospatial database.
- Respond to inquiries from farmers, partners and the general public.
- Compile information to be used in documents, reports or outreach materials.
- Support team members with other duties as required.
The Agricultural Data Entry Technician may also visit farms across the State of Vermont to assess implementation of field practices and will track and report the outcomes of these visits.
This is a temporary position expected to start August 3, 2026 and end on or before March 26, 2027. This is anticipated to be a hybrid remote position, with some of the computer-based work able to be performed from home. It is anticipated that this position will work between 20 and 30 hours per week, with the number of hours worked varying depending on current need.

As of July 12, 2026, the step 1 rate for pay grade 16 will be $19.27 per hour and the step 15 rate will be $29.77 per hour.
