GIBB Mining & Power is a multi-disciplinary engineering design and project management enterprise, focusing on both the Mining, and Power industry. The MD will be based in Gauteng, preferably Johannesburg or Pretoria.
GIBB Mining & Power specialises in innovative and sustainable techno-economic holistic solutions for mining projects, from concept stage, to commissioning and handover within the NEC, FIDIC and GCC forms of contract in traditional staged risk managed and ringfenced risk procurement modalities such as DnC, EPCM, EPC and EPC+f. Depending on the clients preference, we will also perform PMC, and Owners Engineer and Independent Engineer roles for assignments in agreed jurisdictions.

Core purpose:
The MD is a member of the GIBB Group MANCO and within the context of the Group’s strategic intent and business model, provide dynamic and sector strategic leadership ensuring growth and success of the Delivery Unit (DU). The MD will enable effective business development in the company, efficient operations and the unlocking of people potential in order to achieve the desired business growth objectives of the Group and the Delivery Unit. The MD will furthermore contribute to the overall management of the Group and the Delivery Unit by providing inputs to the strategic and business planning aspects of the business including reporting on performance. The MD will ensure corporate governance, compliance and DUs adherence / compliance to Group policies, processes and values whilst assuming the 16.2 delegation for the business, amongst other business related appointments and delegations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop an effective approved strategic business growth plan for the company, in line with the overall Group Strategy, to ensure a sustainable and profitable business unit;
• Ensure that the strategic plans contained in the Business plan are well communicated and implementation is monitored continuously;
• Provide dynamic and effective leadership;
• Oversee key client management and retention strategies;
• Identify new growth opportunities on the continent;
· Commercial structuring of appointments with sufficient commercial acumen to not limit growth and the provision of client solutions;
• Oversee the planning and preparation of expressions of interest, proposals and final bids to achieve fee targets, in conjunction with the Bid Office where necessary ;
• Cultivate and maintain regular contact with key existing and potential clients in conjunction with the Market Sector Coordinators, Project Managers and other relevant senior staff;
• Oversee the efficient delivery and performance of Projects;
• Lead and coordinate Commercial / Joint Ventures; and
• Represent the Group in a professional business-like manner to enhance the Group’s reputation at all times.
