Introduction

The Business Development Manager – Energy Storage is responsible for driving the growth of battery and BESS solutions by developing strategic relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and securing commercially viable projects within the energy sector. The role combines market development, technical solution selling, and commercial leadership to expand market share and drive revenue growth.

Duties & Responsibilities

Identify and secure new battery and BESS business opportunities.
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders.
Develop and execute market growth and account development strategies.
Support the commercial structuring and negotiation of complex energy projects.
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop tailored technical solutions.
Manage the sales pipeline, forecasting, and reporting processes.
Provide market intelligence and strategic input to support business growth.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
8+ years' experience in business development or sales within the energy, power, renewables, or industrial sectors.
Direct experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS), batteries, or related energy infrastructure.
Proven track record of developing business and closing high-value deals.
Established network within the South African energy market, including IPPs, EPCs, developers, and large end-users.
