Project Controls Specialist
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Controls Specialist to support project execution by managing scheduling, cost tracking, and reporting functions. This role partners closely with project management and finance teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain project setup within project controls and planning systems
Analyze project data, generate reports, and validate information across various tools
Develop and manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for assigned projects
Prepare and maintain schedules, cost reports, cash flow projections, and forecasts across multiple projects
Support project execution plans through effective planning and tracking
Coordinate planning, scheduling, logistics, and cost control activities across engineering, procurement, and construction phases
Act as a resource for project teams by addressing technical and scheduling-related inquiries
Review and approve purchase orders and subcontracts for proper cost allocation
Track, document, and communicate changes to budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
Collaborate with project management and accounting teams to review costs, contingencies, and support audit processes
Evaluate and process contract and subcontract change orders
Develop and present detailed cash flow analyses
Build and manage project schedules at various levels of detail
Establish and review logic relationships within schedules
Monitor resource loading and project progress against baseline plans
Facilitate and support project planning sessions and coordination meetings
Generate and customize schedule reports to meet project and stakeholder needs
Review scheduling outputs and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
Provide insights and recommendations on schedule performance and progress
Apply critical path methodology (CPM) to analyze project timelines and risks
Conduct scenario analysis to evaluate potential schedule impacts
Support earned value management (EVM) processes, including progress tracking and performance measurement
Develop and maintain progress curves and reporting metrics
Perform material quantity takeoffs as needed
Conduct quality reviews of project controls deliverables
Participate in field audits to verify reporting accuracy and process compliance
Assist with project forensic analysis when required
Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety standards
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in project controls, scheduling, or cost management
Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Experience with project scheduling software (Primavera P6 preferred)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
