Overview

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Solar Engineer to join their team in Zambia. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in the design, commissioning, and installation of solar PV systems, with a strong technical background and the ability to manage projects from concept through to completion. This role requires relocation to Zambia and offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful renewable energy projects in the region.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and engineering of solar PV systems, ensuring compliance with international standards and local regulations.
Oversee the installation and commissioning of solar PV projects, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency.
Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and energy yield analyses.
Prepare detailed technical documentation, including system layouts, schematics, and specifications.
Manage procurement of equipment and materials, ensuring compatibility and cost-effectiveness.
Supervise contractors and installation teams, providing technical guidance and support.
Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure peak performance.
Collaborate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards throughout all project phases.
Provide training and knowledge transfer to local teams to build capacity in solar PV operations.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in solar PV system design, installation, and commissioning.
Strong knowledge of solar PV technologies, inverters, batteries, and grid integration.
Proficiency in design software (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope) and MS Office Suite.
Familiarity with international standards (IEC, NEC) and local regulatory frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently and lead technical teams.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Willingness to relocate to Zambia and work in remote or rural settings.
