Role Overview
Fluence is seeking a commercially driven Sales Manager – Energy Storage to lead the full sales lifecycle for utility-scale battery energy storage solutions across Belgium and the Netherlands.
Based out of our Amsterdam office this role plays a critical part in expanding Fluence’s presence in the Benelux market and driving the energy transition forward.
You will own strategic customer relationships, shape complex sales opportunities from early engagement through contract execution, and work closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑impact projects. This is a full‑lifecycle role combining new business development, long-term account management, and customer success, with clear accountability for revenue growth and order intake.
The position reports to the Sales Director and operates as part of a close‑knit regional team, contributing directly to Fluence’s commercial success in Europe.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Opportunity Management
- Deliver against quarterly and annual sales targets, building and maintaining a healthy sales pipeline aligned with regional and global objectives
- Own the full sales lifecycle for assigned accounts, from qualified lead through contract execution
- Lead opportunity development, bid strategy, proposal preparation, and customer engagement in close collaboration with Sales Engineering, Commercial Finance, Legal, and Contracting teams
- Drive deal strategy, value positioning, and negotiation support to secure utility-scale BESS projects
- Ensure accurate, timely updates and documentation in CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce)
Customer Relationship Management
- Act as the primary relationship owner for assigned customers, building trusted, long-term partnerships
- Develop a deep understanding of customer business models, decision-making processes, and strategic priorities
- Proactively shape customer thinking by identifying upcoming project opportunities and positioning Fluence as a long-term partner
- Maintain close customer engagement through contracting, delivery, and operational phases to ensure a consistent, high-quality customer experience
Ongoing Account Development
- Develop and maintain structured account plans aligned with commercial goals, delivery milestones, and service agreements
- Conduct regular business reviews, performance updates, and strategic alignment sessions with customers
- Identify and pursue opportunities for repeat business, expansions, and additional offerings such as digital solutions or O\&M services
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues, share market feedback, and support successful project delivery
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum **6 years of experience** in sales, account management, or commercial roles within energy, renewables, infrastructure, or capital equipment sectors
- Proven track record of owning and closing complex B2B sales, ideally involving large-scale or long-cycle projects
- Strong understanding of the energy sector, with experience in battery energy storage systems (BESS) and/or other renewable technologies like Solar-PV, EV infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional deal teams without direct authority
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Additional Skills & Experience (Nice to Have)
- Experience selling utility-scale or C\&I energy solutions in the Benelux market
- Exposure to customers such as utilities, IPPs, or large energy consumers
- Ability to balance “hunter” and “farmer” sales approaches — proactive business development combined with long-term account growth
- Dutch and/or French language skills
- Experience working in fast-paced, global, matrixed organizations
- Strong technical curiosity and the ability to translate complex solutions into clear customer value propositions
