Summary
This position is part of the Idaho Operations Office, Department of Energy. As an Interdisciplinary General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will provide professional engineering or physical science expertise and support to DOE programs, projects or initiatives whose mission or responsibilities include a combination of engineering and physical science work that supports the DOE mission to maintain U.S. preeminence in engineering and scientific technology research and applications.

As an Interdisciplinary General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will: Serve as an expert advisor, providing leadership and comprehensive management for extensive DOE scientific and engineering efforts, including planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating projects, often lacking precedents. Develop and implement scientific and engineering strategies for new capabilities, interpret and justify DOE policy, and provide critical consultation and recommendations to management and external entities. Render expert advice to diverse stakeholders, assess novel concepts, evaluate technological trends, and analyze risk associated with technology alternatives for complex scientific and engineering problems. Develop implementing guidance for complex systems, serves as a recognized expert, and represents the DOE in various forums, including interagency groups, to communicate program objectives and foster cooperation. Provide professional engineering or physical science expertise and support to DOE programs, projects, or initiatives. Ensure engineering and scientific technology research and applications support the DOE mission.
