Micron’s Global Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) organization supports safe, compliant, and sustainable operations across the company’s global manufacturing footprint. The Environmental Compliance team within Global EHSS is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the company’s waste management program.
This role establishes global standards, defines performance indicators, and partners across the organization to deliver effective waste management practices worldwide. You will engage with site environmental health and safety teams and other internal partners as you handle regulatory risk, support operational excellence, and promote consistent execution. This role supports Micron operations globally and requires periodic domestic and international travel.
Responsibilities:
· Lead Micron’s waste management program by defining roles and execution expectations to ensure consistent implementation across sites and regions.
· Develop and maintain regulatory‑aligned waste management standards, partnering with Legal and site EHS teams to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks.
· Establish targets, metrics, dashboards, and reporting to analyze trends, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions.
· Support audits, assessments, corrective actions, and waste‑related due diligence in collaboration with cross‑functional teams to manage risk effectively.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
· 10+ years experience in environmental compliance, waste management, or related EHS roles
· Experience leading programs or sophisticated initiatives
· Knowledge of hazardous and non-hazardous waste regulations
· Experience using data and metrics to drive decisions
Preferred Qualifications:
· Advanced degree or equivalent experience will be considered
· Experience in semiconductor or other highly regulated manufacturing environments
· Experience implementing global or multi-site environmental programs
· Experience supporting waste related due diligence or site expansions
· Professional environmental or EHS certifications
