What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Lead the sheet metal design and release of front structure stampings and assemblies for new products, ensuring innovative and optimized solutions for Scout trucks.
- Manage the design of parts to meet cost, weight, and vehicle performance targets at all design milestones.
- Conduct analysis of sections, components, and sub-systems to drive the design of part to support the overall vehicle efficiencies.
- Develop CAD to support design alternative studies and production development of parts.
- Participate in collaborative design and creation of a simulation environment for testing new body system concepts and ideas related to vehicle handling, safety features, and overall driving experience.
- Support the development prototypes for virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
- Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
- Manage resources efficiently including supplier partners.
- Be a key member within the body structures team and liaison with all Scout functions.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role may be based out of the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC.
- This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the design of BIW structures, including all three phases of product development (design, test and launch).
- Skilled in utilizing CATIA for designing and developing detailed parts.
- Strong technical skills and expertise in sheet metal design, coupled with a 1st principles approach to problem solving.
- Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
- An ability to build strong working relationships with people across all organizational levels.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and suppliers
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., MATLAB, Minitab, Excel).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Work Environment:
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Potential travel to suppliers or manufacturing facilities for material assessments.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial Base Salary Range: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00
