Summary
The typical season for this position is April through September but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Major Duties
You will work as a Logistics Coordinator in the Resource Management division at Kenai Fjords National Park. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Provide logistical support and coordination to all field operations within the park. Coordinate boat or aircraft transportation for field staff. Provide daily radio communications with backcountry teams. Procure supplies and equipment. Arrange shipment to the field, relaying messages. Work closely with Resource Management personnel to coordinate, purchase and transport fuel, food, and other material and coordinating activities among various parties to maximize efficiencies and minimize conflicting use of vessels, field camps, etc. Responsible for routine maintenance and inventory of field equipment. Data entry and related miscellaneous clerical duties may be required. Though the majority of work will be office based, the incumbent may accompany and assist field personnel on projects and perform fieldwork. Serve as primary participants on the park's Coastal Operations Working Group which coordinates activities among various parties to maximize efficiencies and minimize conflicting use of vessels, field camps, etc. and makes recommendations for best practices and policy changes to management regarding park coastal operations. Also serve as back-ups to the other and collaborate on many tasks.
