Major Duties
As a Maintenance Worker (Trails), WG-4749-05 at Kenai Fjords National Park you will be performing duties such as but not limited to: his position works under the building, utilities and grounds leader or another higher graded maintenance position. Assists in the maintenance and construction of graded and paved trails, trail drainage, trail bridges, other trail structures, and general grounds keeping. Assists in the installation, repair, and replacement of water diversion bars, cribbing and retainer walls. Removes windfalls, rockslides, surface outcroppings and debris from trails; builds up tread surfaces in eroded areas; installs steppingstones at creek crossings where bridges cannot be constructed; safely and effectively, uses hand and power tools required for the job and has the ability to maintain these tools properly. Use a variety of trade practices associated with trail maintenance such as carpentry, dry stone masonry skills, cement work, painting, and other related trades. Position may be required to work on the remote coast or backcountry areas of the park for up to one week per month.
