About ALSO.
We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.
ALSO's Real Estate and Workplace Services team is looking for a Environmental Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Manager to own and lead enterprise-level EHS programs while playing a key role in physical security, access control systems, and the development of Security Operations Center (SOC) protocols who will report to the Director of Real Estate and Workplace Services. This is a hands-on, highly autonomous position requiring deep technical expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to operate independently across our office, R&D, commercial/retail, field deployments, and sites worldwide. This role is required to be onsite 5 days a week during business hours with some domestic and international travel as needed.
What You Will Do
EHS Program Ownership & Leadership
Own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of company-wide EHS programs aligned with OSHA (1910/1926), EPA, NFPA, and applicable global regulations
Establish scalable EHS frameworks that support rapid growth, international expansion, and field deployments
Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments across offices, labs, facilities, and commercial/retail sites
Lead incident investigations using a systems-based, no-blame approach; ensure timely corrective and preventative actions
Develop and enforce site-specific safety plans including lockout/tagout, fall protection, hot work, equipment safety, hazardous material handling, and SOW/contractor management
Partner with various departments to report and resolve worker’s comp, workplace safety, compliance, and risk related claims
Serve as the primary EHS authority during regulatory inspections and external audits with local departments
Security & Emergency Management
Own and evolve physical security and site access control standards and protocols, including badging and visitor management systems
Partner with Security, Facilities, and IT to help design and operationalize Security Operations Center (SOC) procedures, escalation paths, and incident response playbooks
Integrate EHS and security risk management into a unified emergency response and crisis management framework
Develop, test, and maintain emergency response, business continuity, and disaster preparedness plans
Act as incident lead during safety or security events, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external emergency responders
Cross-Functional & Field Engagement
Embed EHS and security requirements into lab design, site buildouts, equipment installation, and global customer deployments
Train and influence employees, contractors, and partners through formal training, field engagement, and leadership coaching
Act as a trusted advisor to Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and Leadership on safety and security risk decisions
Drive a preventative, proactive, ownership-based safety and security culture across the organization
What You Will Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related fields
7+ years of progressive EHS experience, with demonstrated ownership of programs in R&D, construction, EV, robotics, or field-deployed environments
Strong command of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and incident investigation methodologies
Proven ability to operate independently, set priorities, and execute without day-to-day oversight
Experience with physical security systems, access controls, or security operations strongly preferred
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across functions and levels
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
Preferred Certifications
OSHA 30-Hour (Construction or General Industry)

First Aid / CPR, HAZWOPER
The salary for this position ranges from$140,000 -$170,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
