DescriptionWe are looking for a Design Engineer (Solar) to support the design and quoting of residential solar energy systems. In this role, you will create accurate solar layouts, analyse rooftop suitability, and prepare system performance assessments to support project proposals. You will also produce technical documentation such as Bills of Materials (BOM), Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and solar design drawings using tools like OpenSolar and AutoCAD.
- Conduct residential solar system designs using OpenSolar, ensuring accurate and efficient system layouts.
- Perform indicative design stage tasks including rooftop analysis and preparation of design inputs for project quotations.
- Extract and analyse customer and project information to develop solar system designs.
- Collaborate with the pricing team to assist with project costing and quotation preparation.
- Produce project documentation including Bill of Materials (BOM) and Single Line Diagrams (SLDs).
- Perform switchgear and cable selection along with voltage rise assessments where required.
- Create and maintain solar design drawings and templates using CAD software such as AutoCAD.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5-7+ years’ experience in solar or renewable energy system design.
- Demonstrated experience designing residential solar systems.
- Proficiency in solar design software such as OpenSolar (preferred).
- Familiarity with solar design tools such as Pylon, Aurora Solar, or similar platforms (advantageous).
- Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD.
- Experience working on solar projects within the Australian market (advantageous).
