Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Environmental Compliance, this onsite position manages the routine environmental compliance program at GreenWaste including but not limited to environmental monitoring, regulatory reporting and regulatory compliance for the company.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Support execution of GreenWaste’s environmental compliance program
- Present comprehensive and engaging environmental training programs for our Operations Team that meets regulatory requirements and standards.
- Track environmental compliance related costs and manage to budget.
- Implement company processes for recordkeeping, environmental compliance and reporting as assigned including: SWPPPs, SPCCs, HMBPs, SWFP, SQG/LQG, NOVs, CERs, TRI, ACF, CAA, Title V, PERP, CQA, NPDES, IGP, Title 14, RCRA, CERCLA, CEQA and all applicable requirements related to waste, recycling, hauling, composting, anerobic digestion and ancillary operations
- Manage environmental compliance databases (EHS Insights or similar)
- Conduct site inspections at various company locations in accordance with an environmental site audit program
- Data management - including collection, evaluation, interpretation, analysis, QA/QC, synthesis, and presentation.
- Ability to draft and generate memos, letters, technical reports and proposals
- Collect samples of stormwater, groundwater or air for testing
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience in regulatory interpretation and negotiation in California Air, Water and/or CEQA regulations
- Experience in environmental compliance, waste and recycling experience preferred.
- Ability to handle odors, dust or other environmental conditions typically encountered in industrial facilities
- Ability to work in a team setting and collaborate well with team members at all levels of the organization, as well as outside regulators and oversight agencies
- Organized with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to rapidly changing work environment.
- Proficient at maintaining documentation controls.
- Strong understanding of business operations.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
- QISP experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 including Excel and SharePoint
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering or comparable
- Current and valid driver’s license (Class C)
- 4+ years of environmental compliance experience
- Air and groundwater compliance project experience in California
Language Skill
- Proficient in English (verbally and in writing) is required. Familiarity with Spanish is considered highly favorable
Physical Demands:
- Ability to physically push, pull and lift 25-30 lbs.
- Ability to sit or stand at a desk in an office environment for 6-10 hours a day
- Travel up to 50% of the time through different facilities.
