Environmental & Sustainability Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Plant Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: None
PURPOSE
The Environmental & Sustainability Coordinator is a key member of the EHS team responsible for maintaining environmental compliance, advancing sustainability performance, and supporting safe, efficient chemical distribution operations. The role administers regulatory programs (RCRA/LQG, EPCRA Tier II, stormwater/SWPPP, SPCC, DOT HazMat), sustains ISO 14001 alignment, contributes to EcoVadis and other sustainability disclosures, and collaborates closely with Operations, Procurement, and Quality (ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Environmental Compliance
- Maintain compliance with RCRA hazardous waste management and Large Quantity Generator standards.
- Submit EPCRA Tier II chemical inventory reports and maintain SDS files.
- Administer Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and maintain Certified Stormwater Operator status.
- Maintain SPCC plan and ensure spill prevention measures.
- Track emissions and maintain permit recordkeeping.
- Support ISO 14001 Environmental Management System requirements.
Sustainability
- Collect and analyze sustainability data (energy, water, waste, recycling).
- Prepare and submit sustainability reports to EcoVadis and other platforms.
- Respond to customer and supplier sustainability requests.
- Monitor sustainability KPIs and report progress to leadership.
- Research and apply best practices for environmental and sustainability improvements.
EHS Alignment
- Ensure DOT HazMat compliance (shipping papers, placarding, packaging).
- Maintain SDS library and verify GHS labeling accuracy.
- Assist with EHS daily operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to advance environmental, health, and safety objectives.
Quality & Food Safety Integration
- Adhere to ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000 standards.
- Opportunity to serve as an internal auditor for ISO and FSSC programs.
- Collaborate with Quality team on compliance alignment and audits as needed.
Collaboration & Committees
- Participate actively in EHS and cross-functional committees to promote environmental and sustainability awareness.
- Work closely with Operations, Procurement, and Quality teams to integrate compliance and sustainability into daily operations.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of RCRA, EPCRA Tier II, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and FSSC 22000.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting tools (EcoVadis) and environmental metrics.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to serve as an internal auditor for ISO and FSSC programs.

WORK SCHEDULE
- 40 – 45 hours/week
- Monday-Friday, normal business hours 8:00am-5:00pm
- After hours/weekend work as needed
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Lunch: as planned/scheduled per day
- Out-of-Town: trips to customers, trainings, and conferences as needed
