Business Development Manager - Solar EPC
About the Opportunity
Renewable Energy — Solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) sector servicing utility-scale and commercial & industrial (C&I) customers across India. We deliver end-to-end solar PV projects, balance-of-system scopes and integrated storage solutions, from pre-feasibility through commissioning.
Mindtel is hiring a hands-on Business Development Manager to drive new project wins, manage high-value tenders/RFPs, and build strategic customer partnerships. This is an on-site role requiring frequent travel to project locations and client sites across India.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop and qualify a robust pipeline of solar EPC opportunities across utility, commercial, and industrial segments through market mapping and targeted outreach.
- Lead end-to-end bid management: prepare commercial proposals, pricing models, techno-commercial clarifications, and submission of tenders/RFPs.
- Create project-level financial models (LCOE/IRR) and pricing strategies to win competitive bids while protecting margins.
- Negotiate commercial terms, PPAs, EPC contracts, and milestones with clients, financiers and partners to secure signed orders.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, legal, delivery) to develop compliant offers and ensure smooth handover to execution teams.
- Maintain CRM, track pipeline metrics, prepare management reports and present opportunity status to senior leadership.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- Proven experience in Solar EPC business development, with a record of winning utility-scale or C&I projects.
- Strong expertise in tender & bid management and commercial proposal preparation.
- Ability to build and validate financial models (LCOE, IRR) and translate into competitive pricing.
- Experience negotiating PPAs, EPC contracts and managing contract risk.
- Hands-on use of CRM platforms for pipeline management and reporting (Salesforce/Zoho preferred).
- Willingness to work on-site and travel frequently to project locations across India.
Preferred
- Familiarity with BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) integration and hybrid project commercials.
- Experience working with utilities, DISCOMs, or multilateral financiers on power projects.
- Prior exposure to EPC delivery teams and site-level execution constraints.
