Major Responsibilities:
• Participates in ecological and maintenance projects• Requirements of the role require consistent movement and physicality, such as walking, stretching, jumping, digging, lifting (up to 45lbs) /pushing/pulling items, cleaning, working on vegetation or other general strains • Participates in the application of appropriate pesticides under supervision of a licensed pesticide applicator • The location of the work site is outdoors and subject to uneven terrain and changing weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, precipitation and UV exposure• Operates appropriate machinery and equipment required to execute work duties related to specific project/program area • Directs the public to project notice signage and possibly providing contact information for additional information and inquiries, referring detailed questions and complaints to supervisor• Participates in the daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning • Assists with maintenance of equipment and vehicles, performs circle and other health and safety checks. Reports potential maintenance requirements to supervisor• Incumbents may also be assigned other duties
What will you need to succeed:Education (degree/diploma/certifications) • Minimum, pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field• Valid Class G2 Driver’s License
Knowledge/Skill/Ability• Familiar with basic equipment and power tools• Ability and aptitude to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions • Demonstrated knowledge of native and invasive plants • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team • Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy• Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues • Proficiency in MS Office for general office communications • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, related Regulations and legislation• Required to lift or carry objects that could weigh up to 45lbs
