Major Responsibilities:
• Participates in the implementation of invasive species management and projects within TRCA’s jurisdiction• Participates in application of appropriate herbicides following best management practices under supervision by a licensed pesticide applicator• Collects and inputs field data according to project scope• Assists with the transportation of materials to and from sites as required• Directs the public to project notice signage and possibly providing contact information for additional information and inquiries, referring detailed questions and complaints to supervisor• Participates in the daily safety meetings including tailgate meetings, hazard identification and emergency planning • Operates appropriate machinery and equipment required to execute work duties related to specific project/program area• Assists with maintenance of equipment and vehicles, performs circle and other health and safety checks. Reports potential maintenance requirements to supervisor
What will you need to succeed:Education (degree/diploma/certifications) • Minimum pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field• Valid Class G2 Driver’s License
Knowledge/Skill/Ability• Familiar with basic equipment and power tools • Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy• Demonstrated knowledge of native and invasive plants and plant identification skills• Ability and aptitude to work outdoors and in adverse conditions• Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues • Proficiency in MS Office for general office communications, ESRI ArcMap and Field Maps is an asset • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, related Regulations and legislation• Requirements of the role: consistent movement and physicality, such as walking, stretching, jumping, digging, lifting (up to 45 lbs) /pushing/pulling items, cleaning, working on vegetation or other general strain
