Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient professional to lead the solar design function for both domestic and international projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the complete design lifecycle of solar PV projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations, technical standards, and regulatory frameworks. This role requires strong leadership, deep technical expertise in solar energy systems, and a proven track record in handling multi-regional projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Leadership: Manage and oversee the complete solar project design lifecycleconceptual, basic, and detailed engineering phases.
- Team Coordination: Lead and mentor the design team; collaborate with project managers, site teams, procurement, and external consultants for seamless project execution.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct energy yield assessments, shadow analysis, performance simulations, and electrical system sizing using advanced tools.
- International Expertise: For international project roles, ensure designs adhere to regional norms, standards (like DEWA, SEC, KAHRAMAA), and environmental factors in the Middle East.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with national and international codes, local grid regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
- Client Engagement: Act as a technical interface with clients during the design phase, supporting technical discussions, presentations, and approvals.
- Quality & Risk Management: Implement design quality checks and risk assessments to ensure high performance and reliability.
- Innovation & Optimisation: Explore and integrate innovative design techniques, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance design accuracy and reduce costs.
Candidate should have strong design calculation experience on :
1. Wire Harness / SCB Fuse Sizing.
2. SCB Sizing.
3. DC String & Power Cable sizing.
4. DC Earthing Sizing.
5. Lightning Arrestor Sizing.
6. UPS & Battery Sizing.
7. AC LT & HT Cable sizing.
8. AC Earthing Sizing.
9. Energy Generation estimation.
10. Auxiliary transformer sizing.
- Guiding Draughtsman properly to ensure deliverables as per agreed plan with customer.
- Shall have experience on preparation of preliminary BOQ for a complete PV plant up to 33kV level.
- Knowledge about major PV plant component technical specifications like String combiner box, Inverter, Inverter transformer and Switchgear panels.
- Knowledge about IS, IEC codes and contemporary solar industry engineering practices.
- Shall be flexible to conduct site visit as per project requirements.
- Coordination of solar PV projects covering the phases within their development from project execution phase to commissioning assessments.
- Understand the optimal design applications and design limitations of our standard products, and lead the evaluation of alternate products.
- Attending calls and review meetings of design and detailing progress of the project.
- Support to project manager and construction team to achieve construction & commissioning deadlines
- Site visits to analyze and mitigate the design challenges of under construction projects.
- Work creatively and analytically in problem solving environment, demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence.
- Willing to Generate Weekly Work Progress and he needs to update day to day Activities, to the Reporting Head.
- Needs to Maintain the Records & Follow-up Activities by Record especially for Drawings, Technical specification, Site Engineering activities.
Required Skills & Tools:
- Proficient in solar design software: PVsyst and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of grid-connected and off-grid PV systems, inverter technologies, and BOS components
- Familiar with Middle East solar regulations and utility requirements (for international position)
- Excellent project management and communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
