Overview
The Risk & Insurance Team within Scout includes Risk and Insurance Specialist. This role is specifically designed to support Scout’s risk management and insurance programs, ensuring appropriate coverage, compliance, and claims handling across all operations on a global basis. This role requires close collaboration with internal departments, brokers, and carriers to manage corporate insurance policies, analyze risk exposure, and implement effective risk mitigation strategies within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
What you’ll do

Insurance Program Administration
- Support placement, renewal, and administration of all corporate insurance programs, including property, casualty, general liability, product liability, auto, and workers’ compensation.
- Maintain accurate policy records, certificates of insurance, and endorsements.
- Coordinate with brokers and carriers to ensure coverage aligns with business operations and contractual requirements.
Claims Management
- Oversee reporting, tracking, and resolution of insurance claims (worker’s compensation, property, liability, and auto).
- Collaborate with internal teams, adjusters, and legal counsel to ensure efficient claims handling and recovery.
- Create and maintain a claims database for regular reporting to management.
Risk Identification and Mitigation
- Support risk assessments across plants, logistics, and corporate functions to identify sophisticated operational exposures.
- Work with various Scout departments, including Environment, Health & Safety, Legal, Security & Fire Protection, Human Resources, Production, Logistics and other operational teams to reduce loss frequency and severity.
- Support special events planning with risk mitigation feedback for unique and innovative engagements.
- Analyze insurance loss data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
Compliance Support
- Review contractual insurance and indemnity provisions for suppliers, vendors, and customers.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory insurance requirements.
Other Responsibilities
- Primary back-up to Scout’s Manager, Corporate Insurance & Risk Management.
- Maintain strong working relationships with insurance brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
- Support RFP processes and negotiate optimal terms, conditions, and pricing.
- Lead projects as assigned by the Manager, Corporate Insurance & Risk Management or Senior Director, Treasury.
Location & Travel Expectations:
- This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina.
- The responsibilities of this role require4 daysattendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly.
- Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
- Travel: Domestic and international travel required, approximately 5% - 15% of the time. Travel will primarily be domestic and could potentially include international travel.

- Education/Certifications: A bachelor’s degree in finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
- Years of Experience required in type of role: 4+ years of experience in risk management or corporate insurance, preferably in the automotive or manufacturing sectors.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Insurance Standards: Deep understanding of property, casualty, and product liability insurance policies and products.
- Claims Processing: Experience with claims management systems and policy administration tools.
- Analytics: Analytical mindset with attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Multi-Tasking: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Software: Proficient with Microsoft Excel and ERP syst
- Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 5%-15% of the time.
- Valid driver's license required.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $90,000.00 - $112,500.00
