Facilities Safety and Sustainability Specialist (Regular, Full-Time)
Facilities & Security Operations
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Safety and Sustainability Specialist supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of workplace safety and environmental programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and healthy environment for staff, visitors, and contractors. This role assists in OSHA and Cal/OSHA compliance, coordinates the organization’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), conducts inspections, and maintains safety records and reporting. The Specialist provides day-to-day support for safety initiatives and partners with Facilities, Security, and other departments to promote a culture of safety.
Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & IIPP
Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety policies and procedures in alignment with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and other applicable standards.
Coordinate and maintain the organization’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
Conduct safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments; document findings and track corrective actions.
Maintain required safety records, permits, and compliance documentation.
Safety Training & Awareness
Support delivery of safety training and awareness programs for staff and contractors (e.g., PPE use, ergonomics, hazard communication).
Maintain training logs and ensure employee certifications are current.
Distribute safety communications and updates to staff.
Conducts ergonomic assessments and makes recommendations for workspace modification as needed.
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance
Support hazardous waste, e-waste, and universal waste handling programs.
Assist with waste diversion, recycling, and sustainability-related reporting.
Conduct routine checks to ensure compliance with AQMD, SWPPP, and other environmental regulations.
Sustainability Programs
Support implementation of sustainability initiatives to reduce energy, water, and resource consumption.
Partner with internal departments to integrate sustainability practices into daily operations and procurement.
Track, measure, and assist in reporting on sustainability performance and benchmarks.
Coordinate with external sustainability partners and reporting frameworks as directed.

The expected hourly rate for this Los Angeles, CA-based position is $33.65, and the position is eligible for LACMA’s comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience in safety coordination, OSHA compliance, or related field.
Knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA and IIPP requirements; familiarity with NFPA, AQMD, ADA, and other safety codes preferred.
Certifications desirable: OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR/AED, HAZWOPER, or equivalent.
