The Opportunity…
Our team‑oriented, passionate, and results‑driven GRID Alternatives Inland Empire (GRID IE) regional office, which serves Riverside, San Bernardino, and Inyo Counties, is seeking 1 full‑time Construction Assistant to support our design, engineering, procurement and installation team to complete residential solar installations.
Job Duties
- Schedule and conduct site visits as delegated and identify feasibility of solar installation, solar access, safety, constructability issues, take measurements notes and capture images
- Prepare permit packages for design and pulling permits in various cities and jurisdictions for solar projects
- Assist in designing solar electric systems based on site visit findings
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles
- Scanning and filing documents; data entry in Excel and our CRM database (SalesForce.com); communicating with and answering homeowner, volunteer, sponsor, and partner inquiries
What you offer...
- Valid state driver's license and clean driving record.
- Strong understudying of OSHA safety requirements.
- Possess a strong work ethic, be a self‑starter, and work well with others and independently
- Willingness to travel throughout the Inland Empire Region
- Perform work at various heights, working from ladders, bucket trucks, scaffolding, catwalks, aerial lifts, or other safe working platforms
- Maintain excellent customer service to homeowners and external parties
- Excellent communication skills with other departments
- Enter all site visit data into CRM systems in a timely fashion
- Support construction operations with other duties as assigned by the construction management (i.e. inspections, warehouse, etc)
It would be great if you also had...
- Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred
- Solar installation experience
- Experience or knowledge of the basics of solar energy, energy efficiency or background in renewable energy is helpful but not required
- Experience working with Salesforce
- OSHA 10
Additional Requirements
*Hired CA candidates must be able to pass a screening for drugs that are illegal in the state of California, including: amphetamine, cocaine metabolite, opiates, and PCP.
Where you will sit & the places you may go…
This position may require 10%-25% out‑of‑town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may be required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience within the pay band, plus the benefits listed below.
