Job Summary:
The Solar Construction Engineer is responsible for overseeing the engineering, design, and construction phases of solar power projects. This role ensures that all installations are executed according to technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines. The engineer will coordinate with cross-functional teams including design, procurement, and field construction to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality solar energy systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all on-site construction activities for solar projects.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project plans.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and environmental requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely project execution.
- Conduct site inspections and quality assurance checks during all phases of construction.
- Manage project documentation, progress reports, and as-built drawings.
- Monitor construction schedules and budgets, identifying and resolving potential issues.
- Ensure adherence to workplace safety policies and participate in HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) programs.
- Support commissioning and testing activities of solar power systems.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Renewable Energy Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in solar power plant construction, EPC, or renewable energy projects.
- Strong understanding of PV systems, electrical layouts, and structural design principles.
- Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, PVsyst, MS Project, etc.) and MS Office Suite.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE, local regulations).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Skills (Optional):
- Experience with utility-scale or commercial solar PV installations.
- Knowledge of energy storage systems and hybrid configurations.
- Certification in PMP, REEM, or related professional accreditation.
- Familiarity with SCADA and monitoring systems for solar plants.
