Role Overview:
As an Energy Market Analyst at Tilt Renewables, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the commercial optimisation of our renewable and storage asset portfolio. You will work closely with the trading team to develop and execute bidding strategies, analyse battery performance, and extract insights from complex datasets. Your ability to build robust Excel models, automate workflows using macros, and collaborate effectively across teams will be key to driving value in a dynamic and evolving energy market.
- Provide strategic insights and analysis of the National Electricity Market (NEM)
- Support commercial decision-making across Tilt Renewables’ portfolio of wind, solar, and battery storage assets on new development projects and commercialisation structures.
- Lead market modelling, forecasting, and scenario analysis to inform trading, development, and investment strategies; and
- Act as a subject matter expert on energy policy, regulatory changes, and market dynamics.
Key Accountabilities:
The key accountabilities may include (but are not limited to):
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Extract and analyse NEM and trading data from the AEMO MMS database to develop dashboards and reports to track asset performance, market trends, and trading outcomes.
- Battery & Asset Modelling: Support the development of forecasting and optimisation models for BESS & renewable assets. This includes performance analysis and scenario modelling.
- Tool & Model Development: Build and maintain Excel-based models with advanced macros and automation features. Collaborate with IT and data teams to improve data pipelines and analytical tools.
- Market Operations Support: Assist in the development and execution of bidding strategies for wind, solar, and battery assets in the NEM. Monitor market conditions and asset performance to inform real-time trading decisions.
Skills and Experience:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in wholesale energy markets
- Strong understanding of the National Electricity Market (NEM) and AEMO operations.
- Proficiency in querying and analysing large datasets, particularly from the AEMO MMS database.
- Advanced Excel and PowerBI skills, including VBA/macros for automation and model development.
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, R, or SQL.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Data Science, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
