SUMMARY
The Environmental Health & Safety Engineer will be responsible for performing the administration of various components of the HS&E, ISO 9001, and Quality Engineering programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversees the safety and industrial hygiene programs within the operations to ensure alignment with corporate and site-specific General Safety and Occupational Health Policies, Standards, and guidelines.
- Coordinates the implementation of written Safety and Occupational Health programs and training initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Coordinates the communication of employee safety and health performance metrics.
- Maintains Safety & Occupational Health records.
- Provides safety and industrial hygiene guidance to manufacturing, laboratory, and administrative teams.
- Provides safety and industrial hygiene direction to manufacturing, lab, and administrative groups.
- Provides support for Safety and Illness Investigations.
- Inspects the plant's production equipment to ensure proper maintenance and that all required safety guards are in place.
- Conducts daily walk-throughs of the plant to identify safety hazards, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
- Manages the maintenance of safety-related ISO documentation systems.
- Ensures quality documentation control complies with safety-related quality control requirements.
- Performs special projects and other related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- (2) Two to (5) five years previous manufacturing or industrial experience in health, safety and ISO 9001 Preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Safety Management or Equivalent Work Experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and have at least a OSHA 30-hour course (required)
- Strong computer, written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be fluent in English (reading, writing and speaking).
- Speaking Spanish fluently is a plus.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Travel is usually less than one week.
- Valid driver's license.
- Proactively ensures compliance with OSHA and ISO regulations, while fostering positive relationships and maintaining rapport with personnel at all levels.
- Working Knowledge of ISO 9001 process.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function for this position

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sitting and/or walking for long periods. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of items weighing up to (25) twenty-five pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials. Moving from place to place within the office; minimum reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
