Key Responsibilities and Skills
This Senior Engineer role involves overseeing construction projects and tenders, managing a 1MW PV Solar Farm project in the D.R. Congo from conception to commissioning.
Responsibilities include:
· Planning, executing, and managing projects within timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints.
· Collaborating with design engineers, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to align with goals and regulations.
· Conducting site visits, assessments, and technical evaluations for optimal solar farm construction solutions.
· Participating in FAT on behalf of the client when required.
· Monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies.
· Ensuring compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
· Training Junior Engineers involved in the project.
· Tender for various power projects.
· Identify opportunities in the power sector and supply services to IPPs in South Africa.
· Attend related site visits and meetings.
· Plan, execute, and manage solar energy and power infrastructure projects from start to finish.
· Conduct feasibility studies, and provide technical expertise on systems and design optimization.
· Ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum National Diploma: Electrical Engineering, Construction Management
- 10+ years' project management experience, preferably in electrical EPC
- Knowledge in LV/MV/HV electrical engineering
- Proficiency with MS Project and CAD for solar design
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, proactive problem-solving
- Fluent in English; French is a plus
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently and under pressure
- Strong computer skills
