JOB SUMMARY: The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is April - October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2025 MAJOR DUTIES: The duty location for this announcement is: Lassen Volcanic National Park, CA Works as a member of the parks maintenance, roads, and trails maintenance operations. Operates platform trucks, van trucks, dump trucks, specialty pumping equipment and trash removal trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight or more than 26,000 pound and up to 32,000 pounds. Transports passengers, supplies, materials or equipment and tools and tows various trailers and equipment. Performs general maintenance on motor vehicles. Performs a variety of manual labor tasks associated with roads operations such as handling asphalt by shovel and rake and cleaning ditch lines and culverts, roadside brushing, garbage collection, striping and traffic flagging. Physical Effort: Moderate physical effort is needed by this position in operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles which carry heavy loads or a large number of people. Required to frequently lift items weighing over 50 pounds. Considerable physical effort may be required to change tires and make limited emergency repairs, such as installing an emergency fan belt or replacing an electrical fuse on open highways. Working Conditions: Incumbent is required to work outside and is exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents.
