Job Description
About the role
Reporting to Vice President of Renewable Power & Transition, the role offers the opportunity to assist with the evaluation and execution of investment opportunities in the renewable power and transition space. This includes engaging with counterparties, conducting due diligence and assisting with integration / post transaction portfolio management.
The Analyst will be responsible for performing various research, financial analysis, modelling and presentation functions to support the development of investment strategies and identify attractive transaction opportunities. The Analyst will also be responsible for executing due diligence across various sectors in the renewable power and transition space. Focus will be in China however there will be direct integration with the broader Asia Pacific Region (“APAC”).

Responsible for:
Due Diligence
- Assisting in targeting and evaluating new investment opportunities;
- Assessing potential investments through financial modelling and company / industry research:
- Translating data, policy, research and diligence findings into model inputs
- Building tax, cash repatriation and debt schedules into detailed asset / portfolio models
- Ensuring appropriate operational and capital structure sensitivities;
- Ability to tackle more complex financial models under the guidance of seniors;
- Planning and completion of due diligence tasks including:
- Asset risk evaluation, including technical, legal, accounting & tax, impact, market et al.
- DCF valuation analysis
- Project financing plan
- Precedent transactions and comparable company analysis
- Potential decarbonization impact analysis for investment opportunities
- Coordinating and assisting operational and business development teams with various development initiatives and transactions;
- Researching industry opportunities to identify and assess impact of key value drivers on a transaction and business assumptions; and
- Preparing high-quality investment committee presentation materials and other supporting documentation in a clear and concise manner.
Execution
- Demonstrating an understanding of key deal issues;
- Ensuring all financial analysis and written materials produced are accurate and timely.
Asset Management
- Working with operational teams on asset management-related analysis;
- Monitoring and assisting in the management of existing portfolio companies; and
- Assisting with exit analysis and materials for assets at the end of their hold period.
Other
- Work with colleagues and peers both within Brookfield and externally by developing strong networks with consultancies, and industry professionals to continue to develop Brookfield’s property profile and business in China and Asia;
- Contributing to a flexible, dynamic, and team-oriented working culture that fosters personal development and a positive attitude; and
- Participate in special projects as required.
About You
- Economic or business designation with previous M&A experience including business development, financial analysis, transaction execution and corporate finance;
- 1-3 years of experience in investment banking, restructuring, private equity, renewable power investments or other relevant areas;
- Fluency in English and Mandarin is essential; and
- High level of proficiency in Excel and Power Point and very strong financial modelling skills.
- Experience in conducting research and due diligence;
- Strong financial modelling and valuation skills;
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment;
- A professional, positive attitude and capable of contributing to a dynamic and team-oriented culture;
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail;
- Presents ideas related to group’s deals and transactions in a clear and concise manner;
- Self-motived both with respect to managing workload and own professional development;
- Team-oriented and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop collaborative relationships at all levels in the organization; and
- Acts quickly and efficiently.
