The Organization

Reclaim Finance is a fast-growing Paris-based NGO focused on the crossover between finance and climate justice. Launched in 2020, Reclaim Finance has already emerged as a go-to organization on climate-related financial issues.

Affiliated with Friends of the Earth France, Reclaim Finance aims to make the financial sector work for a sustainable society. In the context of climate and biodiversity emergencies, one of Reclaim Finance’s priorities is to accelerate the decarbonization of financial flows.

Reclaim Finance exposes the climate impacts of financial institutions, by naming and shaming the worst actors and calling out good policies. Pragmatic, they build alliances and collaborate with financial institutions and political decision-makers who wish to transform their existing practices in line with ecological imperatives.

The Role

Reporting to a senior staff member and working closely with the Reclaim Finance team and CSOs internationally, your primary goal is to ensure that existing Just Energy Transition Partnerships (JETPs) are an effective tool to promote just 1.5°C-aligned fossil-fuel phase outs. Your advocacy will focus on the role of the Glasgow Financial Alliance on Net Zero (GFANZ) and its financial institution members in shaping and financing JETPs. You will also develop relationships and undertake advocacy with governments in JETP host and donor countries and track the developments of emerging JETPs.

Other key responsibilities are to:

Develop/implement advocacy strategies focused on private sector actors and JETP processes
Ensure that JETPs do not promote fossil gas, biomass, or other non-solutions
Promote Reclaim Finance’s positions and the voices of CSOs in JETP host countries and in media
Analyze energy and finance policies and regulations in Indonesia, Vietnam and other JETP countries
Build relationships with stakeholders in CSOs, governments and the private finance sector, including GFANZ and its sectoral alliances and members
Prepare and disseminate policy positions for NGOs, media, and for use in advocacy
Contribute to the management of the project budget, fundraising and donor reporting

Skills Required

You are a dynamic individual with energy-related policy analysis and campaign strategy experience and you are eager to help ensure a just transition out of fossil fuels for countries in the Global South. You can demonstrate successful energy, climate or closely related advocacy, campaigning, or policy work and you have the proven capacity to develop and implement change strategies. You are well connected with CSOs and government and private sector stakeholders across Asia and you have a good understanding of the regional energy politics, policies, and finance landscape.

Additionally you offer:

Ability to work independently, proactively, and to consult with colleagues and partners
Excellent written and verbal skills in English and ideally in another SE Asian language
Strong analytical and numerical skills; able to analyze and synthesize complex information
Strong team collaboration skills and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
You have working and residency rights for your Asia location/you reside nearby with relevant experience
