As Director of Sustainability Excellence, you will lead VELUX’s efforts in both circularity, bioodiversityas well as the wider ESG implementation, playing an important role in the company's transition towards sustainablebusiness models.
Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, you will manage a team of sustainability specialists and business partners. You willbe responsible for driving circularity and biodiversity initiatives across the organization while also overseeing the integration of ESG requirements in line with emerging regulations and stakeholder expectations.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
Work closely with cross-functional teams such as Finance, Procurement, Logistics, and Product Development to ensure alignment of sustainability initiatives with business objectives.
We are looking for a leader with a partnership mentality and a proven ability to navigate complex sustainability landscapes and drive meaningful change.
The ideal candidate is pragmatic, balancing ambition with a realistic understanding of the operational landscape. You should be an effective change agent, capable of inspiring teams and fostering alignment among senior stakeholders. A passion for sustainability transformation, combined with an ability to navigate regulatory complexity, will set you apart in this role
As a leader you are driven by the success of your employees and can foster a work environment recognized by psychological safety and a will to drive a high performance towards our strategic goals and the business we succeed with.
Furthermore, you will need:
8+ years of experience in sustainability, ESG, or circular economy roles, ideally in a global manufacturing or B2B environment.
Strong understanding of circular economy principles, ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., CSRD ,GRI, SASB), and regulatory landscapes.
Expertise in regulatory requirements and sustainability transitions, particularly in Europe (CSRD, CSDDD, EU Taxonomy).
